On June 12th, AEPJ took part in the Remembrance Cluster Meeting held in Brussels, organised by the European Commission (DG JUST) and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). The meeting brought together all beneficiaries of the CERV-REM programme from the 2023 and 2024 calls, offering a unique opportunity for exchange, reflection and future collaboration.
AEPJ was present as one of the partner organisations of the project Mi Dor Le Dor Europe, selected under the 2023 REM call. This ambitious initiative aims to strengthen transnational networks of educators working with Jewish memory and heritage in Europe. The project supports teachers and heritage professionals in developing and implementing educational experiences such as city walks, classroom activities or games, that make Jewish history visible and relevant in today’s European societies.
During the Cluster Meeting, the project was represented in the break-out room dedicated to European Integration and its defining achievements, where participants exchanged ideas on how remembrance projects can contribute to building a plural, inclusive and cohesive Europe. The workshop sessions highlighted the importance of methodologies that link local memory with European narratives and values, fostering critical thinking and civic engagement.
Beyond the working sessions, the meeting offered a valuable space for networking and strengthening institutional ties. AEPJ took the opportunity to reinforce its long-standing relationships with partner organisations such as Jewish Heritage Network, Liberation Route Europe, ATRIUM, and Centropa, and to establish new connections with relevant actors working in the remembrance field.
The meeting also featured the participation of key institutional figures, such as Katharina von Schnurbein, European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life, and Pascale Falek, from the EC Secretariat-General, underlining the political relevance of the programme and its alignment with wider EU priorities.
We warmly thank the teams at EACEA and DG JUST for their excellent organisation of this gathering and for fostering a vibrant, collaborative environment for all participating organisations.
