On Tuesday 7 it will be the turn of the AQUITANIA trio, who will perform the concert entitled “La Galana y el Mar. Woman and music in the three cultures of medieval Spain”.
This trio from Seville is made up of Elena Escartín, on recorders and choirs, the Moroccan Iman Kandoussi, with her captivating voice and percussion, and Chemón Cortés, with the Arabic ud.
Founded in 2009, the medieval music group Aquitania addresses the Andalusian, Sephardic and Christian repertoires, creating rich and varied fusions of styles.
Throughout their career they have performed at festivals such as Nights in the Gardens of the Real Alcázar in Seville, Encontro de Musica Antiga in Loulé (Portugal), AlMutamid Music Festival in Lagoa (Portugal), Medieval Music Festival in Alarcos, Cycle of Music of the Three Cultures of Córdoba, Judaic Culture Cycle of Guarda (Portugal), Pirenostrum Pyrenean Fair in Boltaña, 2013 Pilar Classical Music Cycle of the Zaragoza Auditorium, Music Festival in the Museum of the Roman Forum of Zaragoza, Sacred Music Cycle of San Sebastián and Festival of Music of the Three Cultures of Toledo.
His projects have been highly valued by critics and experts, having been selected on numerous occasions by ENRÉDATE – Andalusian Network of Public Theaters, Aragonese Network of Scenic Spaces, Network of Theaters of the Community of Madrid and Cultural Promotion and Cooperation Program of the Diputación de Sevilla.
Aquitaine breathes new life into the rich repertoire of our medieval heritage, combining historical rigor with a performance that leads us to experience the feelings and emotions of the artists who composed, played and sang it more than five hundred years ago.
