Córdoba joins in 2021 the commemoration of the millennium of the birth of Salomón Ibn Gabirol, from Malaga and a universal Jew who stood out for his early talent for letters, reflected in multiple works that transition between poetry and philosophy. Not in vain, he is considered by experts in Sephardic culture and scholars of his figure as the first Hispano-Jewish mystic and one of the highest exponents of medieval Hebrew literature. The illustrious poet and philosopher, who signed his works as ha-malaqui (which means, the malagueño), was born in the city around 1021, so this year has been chosen to commemorate the millennium of his birth with the aim of to value such an important local author and thinker at the time of the Spain of the Three Cultures.
