EDJC 2021 > Poland > Jidysz: między językiem niemieckim a Zagładą – wykład prof. Tomasza Kamuselli
The lecture by Professor Tomasz Kamusella, ‘Jidysz: między językiem niemieckim a Zagładą’ is an opportunity to learn something about the world of European Ashkenazi Jews and their culture by looking at their language.
Host will focus on two main questions:
– how Yiddish turned German into a pan-European (and in a way, also, worldwide) language?
– why research of Shoah pays much more attention to sources in German (the language of perpetrators) than languages of survivors and victims?
The lecture will be hosted in Polish.
