This year's Jüdische Kulturtage zwischen Harz und Heide will end with a large festive concert on September 12, 2021 at 4 pm. Under the motto "1700 Years of Jewish Life in Germany", the Helmstedt Cultural Association invites you to an extraordinary concert at an extraordinary location in its "Grenzenlos Klassik" series. A currently empty industrial hall will be used as an open-air concert hall with a roof. Due to the size of the hall, the Braunschweig State Orchestra will finally be able to play in full size again after a long time. In particular, the work composed by Helmut Eisel can be performed in the original version with the original instrumentation, and the Mendelssohn symphony can also come to full fruition under the direction of General Music Director Srba Dinic. Concert audiences can look forward to a diverse program that focuses on the impact of Jews on music in Germany and around the world. Helmut Eisel will perform his "Rhapsody for an Unknown Klezmer" as solo clarinetist together with the Braunschweig State Orchestra. The program also includes Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's 4th Symphony, known as the "Italian". It is one of the composer's best-known and most frequently performed orchestral works. Unjustly forgotten is the extensive oeuvre of composer Erwin Schulhoff, whose works were listed as "degenerate music" by the National Socialists.
