The Klezmer festival A Bisale Mazl or A Bit of Luck/ Egy kis mázli, which will begin in Šalovci, will continue with a rich cultural and musical program in Domanjševci. Robert Waltl, director of the Mini Theatre from Ljubljana, will stage a puppet show for youth and adults based on the book by the famous Jewish writer Isak Babel, Stories from Odessa / The Story of My Dovecote. The stories are among the most beautiful stories about childhood in all of world literature.
The puppet show will be followed by two more concerts of klezmer music. First, the Pallawatsch band from Vienna will perform, followed by the Hamsa band from Budapest. The Hamsa band, which, like the Pallawatsch band, has been around for almost 30 years, is dedicated to musical exploration of the intertwining of Hungarian and Jewish musical traditions. The band is one of the most popular performers of klezmer and ethnic music in Hungary, as well as beyond, having performed on numerous world stages.
The festival will also feature an exhibition of drawings by Barbara Buchegger depicting synagogues in Central and Eastern Europe. Barbara Buchegger has been visiting preserved synagogues for many years and depicting them in her characteristic style. In this way, a valuable collection and an important historical document have been created.
