About the exhibition:
The exhibition “I Remember Because of You: Third Generation Holocaust Remembrance” connects the past and the present through personal stories, photographs and objects of youth club members that speak of perseverance, resilience and identity. It creates a space for us – to take the Holocaust narrative into our own hands and be part of a shared memory for future generations.
We are witnessing the death of the last living witnesses who can speak about the horrors of the Holocaust. With the disappearance of the last survivors, the preservation of cultural memory is increasingly becoming a task for the entire society. The next generations cannot replace living witnesses, but they can play a decisive role in the process of remembrance. Starting from the question of what it means to belong to descendants and what are the dimensions of trauma in family memory, this exhibition deals in the broadest sense with the relationship to this terrible legacy, by providing us with the opportunity to publicly participate in the remembrance of the Holocaust through our own stories. In this way, it sheds light on both the approaches to the family past and the consequences that these events had on the life and identity of the third generation.

About the workshop:
How deeply do we know the stories of our ancestors and how do they shape our identity today? This workshop is open to anyone who is ready, with an open mind and an honest heart, to grapple with family memories and their own experiences from the past.
We invite you to use the creative process to shape the story you want your family to know and understand. Through shared exploration and expression, we strengthen memory and build a bridge between the past and the future. Join us and let the voice of your ancestors live through you. Your story deserves to be told.
