This year, the European Day of Jewish Culture invites you to discover the richness of Jewish life, history, and creativity under the inspiring theme “People of the Book.” Across eight Swiss cities – Baden, Basel, Bern, Endingen-Lengnau, Geneva, Lausanne, La Chaux-de-Fonds, and Zurich – diverse events will open windows into Jewish traditions, texts, and culture.

From synagogue tours and lectures on sacred writings to concerts, films, and hands-on workshops, the program highlights the enduring role of books, stories, and learning in Jewish heritage. Visitors will have the chance to explore and discover Jewish authors and publishers, walk in the footsteps of writers like Kafka and Else Lasker-Schüler, and even create their own bookmarks.

The theme “People of the Book” reminds us that Jewish culture is not only about preserving sacred texts, but also about sharing knowledge, fostering dialogue, and engaging with literature, art, and memory across generations.
