AEPJ joins Europeana 2022: Making digital culture count
As a partner of the Jewish History Tours project, AEPJ is joining the Europeana 2022 conferences under the title Making digital culture count, where altogether with other partners such as Jewish Heritage Network, Pangeanic and Europeana itself, to share the experience of the Jewish History Tours development, as well as the link and outputs it is providing to the European Routes of Jewish Heritage network. Actually, this was the first step of the project, to create and distribute self-guided audio tours across Jewish sites, but the next step for all of us within the project is to build a strategic cooperation between Europeana and Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe program.
The session will consist of a co-design workshop where we will explore how this cooperation can be constructed, learning from the lessons of the Jewish Heritage Tours project. We will talk about data sharing and ownership, interoperability between platforms, data silos, and the role of public digital infrastructures. Together with experts from the project and the audience, we will develop guidelines that can help encourage and strengthen the synergies between the data spaces for cultural heritage and tourism.
The event is taking place in hybrid format, in Amsterdam and online, between 28th and 30th September, gathering 87 professionals around culture, heritage management and digitization. Everyone is invited to join us online on Wednesday 28th, 2pm here!
The Jewish History Tours purpose is to create a library with Jewish Heritage resources, from where to create virtual tours regarding Jewish heritage sites linked to the European Routes of Jewish Heritage. At the moment, several AEPJ members are benefiting from the project getting support to develop digital audio guides about the sites related to their routes.
