We are delighted to announce that the Inaugural Celebration of the European Days of Jewish Culture 2026 will take place on Sunday, 6 September 2026, in Warsaw, Poland.
The AEPJ is honoured to host this year’s opening ceremony together with the Taube Center for Jewish Life & Learning and the Jewish Community of Warsaw. The event will launch a new season of cultural activities taking place throughout September, as museums, synagogues, community organisations, municipalities and volunteers across Europe open their doors to visitors of every background.
The 2026 edition of the European Days of Jewish Culture is dedicated to the theme LOVE. Throughout this year’s programme, participants across Europe will explore the many ways in which love has shaped Jewish life and continues to inspire encounters between communities today.
Each year, the Inaugural Celebration sets the tone for what follows. It brings together partners, organisers and friends of the network to mark the beginning of the season and to reflect on what Jewish heritage means in contemporary Europe—not as an inheritance held at a careful distance, but as a living culture that continues to evolve through exchange, participation and dialogue.
Warsaw is a particularly meaningful place to begin this journey. Few cities embody so much of Europe’s Jewish story at once: centuries of vibrant Jewish life, its near-total destruction during the Holocaust, and the determined work of remembrance, renewal and cultural revival that continues today. Opening a season dedicated to LOVE in Warsaw reminds us that love is also an act of resilience: the commitment to rebuild, to remember, to reconnect and to create new relationships across cultures and generations.
We warmly invite our partners, associates and everyone working with Jewish heritage across Europe to save the date. Full details of the programme, venue and registration will be announced in the coming weeks.
