European Days of Jewish Culture

The EDJK 2022 program of the Jewish Cultural Centre will start with The oldest known Jewish musical Coplas de Yosef Ha-Tsadik. This musical is based on the story of Joseph and his Brethren. The performance is a unique recreation of the music for this masterpiece of Judeo-Spanish poetry written by Abraham Toledo in the first half of the 17th century in Istanbul. It has been adapted for the stage by director, composer, vocalist, and player, Stefan Sablic. The combination of Sephardic musical sources with classical Ottoman music and other musical traditions that originated in the Balkans and Mediterranean region together created one of the richest Jewish musical traditions. Adapted, directed and composed by Stefan Sablic
With the participation of Sephardic music band “Shira utfila”, Choir “Braća Baruh”
and two actors.
