EDJC 2021 > Hungary > The history of the Salgótarjáni Street Jewish Cemetery
On the occasion of the European Days of Jewish Culture 2022, the Hungarian National Heritage Institute holds a thematic walk in the Salgótarjáni Street Jewish Cemetery in Budapest. The Salgótarjáni Street Jewish Cemetery, located right next to the Fiumei Road Cemetery, is of unique importance in terms of both the personalities buried there and the significant architectural works in the cemetery. The cemetery is a faithful imprint of Jewish emancipation in Hungary, as well as a rich history book of Hungary’s social and economic history.
The guided tour (in Hungarian) starts from the main entrance of the Salgótarjáni Street Jewish Cemetery. The tour is 1.5-2 hours on weekends. Our programs are always free of charge.
