Shira U’tfila (Song & Prayer) is a multi-ethnic, multi-confessional ensemble inspired by the rich and diverse traditions of Judeo-Spanish, Ottoman-Turkish, Arabic, and Balkan music. Founded in 2000 by vocalist and oud player Stefan Sablić, the ensemble is dedicated to preserving and promoting the Sephardic musical heritage of the Balkans, the Mediterranean, and North Africa.
With seven CDs released, performances in over a dozen countries, and numerous collaborations on research and production projects, Shira U’tfila passionately blends classical traditions with improvisation and fusion, creating a unique and modern twist on historical legacies.

Mit dem erfolgreichen Programm „Von Gershwin bis Gurvitch“ lädt Komponist und Konzertpianist Leon Gurvitch zusammen mit den hochkarätigen Musikern seines Streichquartetts zu einem emotionalen Ausflug in den Kosmos der Jazzmusik ein. Erleben Sie bekannte Melodien von George Gershwin, Dave Brubeck, Duke Ellington, jüdische Musik in neuen Arrangements sowie eigene Kompositionen mit begnadeten Musikern. Ein toller Abend mit viel Leidenschaft! Herren werden gebeten, eine Kopfbedeckung zu tragen. Eintritt frei – Spenden erbeten. Das Konzert findet im Rahmen der Jüdischen Kulturtage zwischen Harz und Heide statt, die 2024 zum fünften Mal stattfinden. Die Veranstaltung wird durch die Jüdische Gemeinde Braunschweig K.d.ö.R. organisiert.

"Cants d’Edom" is a recital of songs from the Catalan Jews performed by Pili Cugat and Carlos Lupprian. The concert will take place on Saturday, August 31 at 7:30 PM, in the cloister of the Convent of Santa Clara in Castelló d’Empúries.
Free admission.

A selection of Jewish melodies will be performed by the family duo Pavla Jarodová Vondráčková and Eliana Vondráčková Jahodová
As in previous years, we will experience two bands this evening at Torshov.
First up this evening is the singer Bente Kahan – a great communicator of Jewish culture and folk music. Alongside her on the stage this evening: Georg Reiss (clarinet), Tom Karlsrud (accordion), Helge Ellingsen (bass) and Gjertrud Økland (violin).
The second band is the Polish-based Klezmoret, who will take us on an exciting musical journey further into the night. The band members: Paweł A. Nowak (accordion), Mikołaj Kostka (violin), Maciej Sadowski (bass) and Patryk Zakrzewski (drums).
Doors open at 7.00pm, concert starts at 8.00pm

During the Oslo Cultural Night, free cultural events are held all over the city. At the museum, the two eminent Vienna-based musicians Moritz Weiß (clarinet) and Ivan Trenev (accordion) will perform for an Oslo audience – hopefully of all ages.

We invite you to a concert with the Berlin-based band Sistanagila. The band's artistic expression builds bridges between Iranian, Eastern European and Middle Eastern-based music. Beer and wine will be sold.

On the 1st of September, the Day of Jewish Culture is organized across Europe, this year with the theme "Family". At 5.30pm the doors open, and traditional Jewish food will be served. At 6.30pm there will be lectures and conversations on stage about two Norwegian-Jewish families and what it means to know one's history. At 8.00pm there is a concert. A selection of Leonard Cohen's songs will be performed in Yiddish by singer Louisa Lyne from Sweden with band. In 2024, Cohen would have turned 90.
