Dear friends, as we invite you to the festival events, our humble organizing team reflects: five years—does it feel long or short? What began as a timid idea has, over five years, grown into a highly professional festival, the only one of its kind in Lithuania. Every year, participants come from across Europe—musicians, lecturers, writers, scholars, and filmmakers—to share their talents and insights. Our audience spans generations and interests, from Klaipėda residents to visitors from across the regions. The festival has already built a loyal circle of friends, partners, and supporters. The main sponsor of the International Jewish Culture Festival “Shalom Everywhere” is the Klaipėda City Municipality.
The 2025 festival will celebrate the 100th anniversary of YIVO and highlight Jewish literature and the Yiddish language.
YIVO founded in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 1925, YIVO—the Yiddish Scientific Institute—was established to preserve and study the history and culture of Eastern European Jewry. Today, the institute’s archives in New York hold over 23 million unique items, and its library boasts more than 400,000 volumes—making it the world’s largest repository for Jewish studies. During the festival, visitors will have the rare chance to explore YIVO’s fascinating history up close at our special exhibition.
Yiddish, also called Litvish or Litvishe, was once the everyday language of Ashkenazi Jews across Eastern Europe, including Lithuania. By the 19th century, it was the dominant language of Lithuanian Jews, and in the early 20th century, 99% of Jews in Lithuania spoke Yiddish as their mother tongue. It was even taught in schools. Tragically, the Holocaust dramatically reduced the number of speakers—but the language lives on.

The Estonian Jewish Museum is organizing a literary conference titled “The Book – A Bridge Between the Jewish and Estonian Worlds” as part of the Estonian Book Year. The conference has been included in the calendar of events for European Jewish Culture Days, which in 2025 is themed “People of the Book.”
The idea for the conference came from events that took place in Estonia 90 years ago. In 1935, Estonia also celebrated its Book Year, and the Jewish community participated in the events. Activities were held in Tallinn and Pärnu. The 2025 conference will therefore re-establish a connection to past events.
The conference program features presentations that cover a wide range of interactions between Jewish and Estonian cultures. Among the speakers are scholars and researchers of Jewish studies from Tartu and Tallinn universities, representatives of the Estonian Jewish community, translators, and writers.

Dans le cadre des JECPJ et de l’évènement national « Biblis en folie », en partenariat avec la Médiathèque Jacques Chirac de Troyes, le GIP Rachi, viendra éclairer les enjeux d’« Éthique, mémoire et société : penser le futur » à travers une approche patrimoniale traitant de l’innovation au Moyen Âge. Petits et grands découvriront Rachi, savant visionnaire né à Troyes, qui réinventa au XIe siècle la transmission du savoir. Jeux, manuscrits, alphabet hébraïque ou encore atelier Playmobils vous serons proposés : une plongée ludique dans un passé où l’on pensait déjà le futur à travers l’étude, le partage… et les livres

Der Terroranschlag der Hamas auf Israel am 7. Oktober 2023 war von extremer Gewalt geprägt – auch sexualisierte Gewalt
wurde gezielt eingesetzt. Während international klare Verurteilungen folgten, blieb eine solche Reaktion in Teilen der deutschen Öffentlichkeit, auch in feministischen Kontexten, oft aus.
Das Podium besetzt mit Rebecca Schönenbach (Vorsitzende des Vereins „Frauen für Freiheit“), Bianca Loy (wissenschaftliche Referentin beim Bundesverband der Recherche- und Informationsstellen Antisemitismus (RIAS) e. V.) und Nirit Cordes (Autorin aus Hannover) diskutiert, warum diese Gewalt kaum thematisiert wurde, wie Antisemitismus und Antifeminismus ideologisch zusammenhängen und was eine feministische, menschenrechtsbasierte Solidarität heute bedeutet. Ziel ist es, Leerstellen sichtbar zu machen, zuzuhören und Verantwortung einzufordern.

Judafest is an all-day festival of Czech Jewish culture, traditionally organized by the Czech Union of Jewish Youth with financial support from the Holocaust Victims Foundation, the Federation of Jewish Communities in the Czech Republic, and the EUJS. This year’s festival will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in Prague at Peškovka (Eliška Pešková Street 333/7, 150 00 Prague 5) under the theme “The Future as a Challenge.” Visitors can look forward to an afternoon filled with lectures, panel discussions, concerts, kosher culinary delights, and opportunities to explore Jewish culture and traditions. Free admission.

Un año más desde la entrada de Lucena en la Red de Juderías de España, nos sumamos a la celebración de la Jornada Europea de la Cultura Judía a través del Programa de Actividades “SEPTIEMBRE SEFARDÍ” en el que se incluyen diferentes experiencias, actividades, rutas y eventos con los que dar visibilidad a la Perla de Sefarad y “Ciudad de los Poetas” como se la conoció a lo largo de los siglos IX al XII. Una programación organizada por la Delegación de Turismo del Ayuntamiento de Lucena gracias al patrocinio de la Red de Juderías de España y de la AEPJ (Asociación Europea para la Preservación del Patrimonio Judío).
