Panel discussion. What is happening with Israel and where does the situation stand after October 7, 2023? Why should we, as a nation
and as Christians, stand with Israel today, and what should we gain from this from a biblical perspective?
This year, the European Day of Jewish Culture invites you to discover the richness of Jewish life, history, and creativity under the inspiring theme “People of the Book.” Across eight Swiss cities – Baden, Basel, Bern, Endingen-Lengnau, Geneva, Lausanne, La Chaux-de-Fonds, and Zurich – diverse events will open windows into Jewish traditions, texts, and culture.
From synagogue tours and lectures on sacred writings to concerts, films, and hands-on workshops, the program highlights the enduring role of books, stories, and learning in Jewish heritage. Visitors will have the chance to explore and discover Jewish authors and publishers, walk in the footsteps of writers like Kafka and Else Lasker-Schüler, and even create their own bookmarks.
The theme “People of the Book” reminds us that Jewish culture is not only about preserving sacred texts, but also about sharing knowledge, fostering dialogue, and engaging with literature, art, and memory across generations.
Across Italy, more than one hundred initiatives will open the doors of Jewish history, art, and thought for the European Day of Jewish Heritage. Large cities and small towns alike will host a full day of encounters inspired by this year’s theme, People of the Book—a journey into the texts, voices, and ideas that have shaped Jewish life for millennia.
Join Italy’s Jewish communities and cultural institutions for a nationwide celebration that turns the country into a vast, open library—inviting everyone to discover, leaf by leaf, the stories that continue to shape our shared European heritage.
Our programme explores the theme of ‘The People of the Book’, which lends itself to a huge range of potential events, whether real or virtual. All of these interpretations offer a wealth of opportunities for open days, talks, virtual guided walks and online exhibitions.
SALOM STREET – contemporary Jewish cultural and arts festival
—
You can't do it alone!
We are slowly becoming a tradition, as this year we are organizing our third street festival on the first Sunday of September on Csányi Street. We are holding it on this day for the third time because since 1999, the first Sunday of September has been European Jewish Culture Day in the European Union: Jews and non-Jews celebrate it together in dozens of cities, towns, and communities!
This year, KULT7 has joined forces with the Erzsébetváros Local Government, so we are presenting the most exciting and colorful program yet on the chosen theme, which is the same throughout Europe: PEOPLE OF THE BOOK.
This year, it is perhaps even more important to emphasize that we are organizing this together.
