The Republic of Moldova is participating in the “European Days of Jewish Culture” festival at the national level for the first time this year, under the auspices of its Ministry of Culture. It has organized a festival with several compelling events.
On Sunday, September 3, the program begins with a guided tour of Rașcov and Vadul Rașcov, two former Jewish shtetls on opposite banks of the Dniester River that both retain a rich Jewish history and heritage. The tour group will stop en route at Dubăsari, another Jewish shtetl where more than 18,000 Jews were murdered during the Holocaust. Their mass grave is like a Moldovan “Babin Yar.” In Rașcov, the group will visit a synagogue — ruined but still impressive — and two Jewish cemeteries. They will then cross the river to Vadul Rașcov, for a kosher lunch, provided by Agudath Israel, followed by a tour continuation. The tour is guided by Irina Șihova, the Director of Jewish History Museum of the Republic Of Moldova.

European Day of Jewish Culture with TiM! Would you like to tell us a story?

There is an infinite treasure of stories slumbering in our museum, which we would like to unearth together with you! On the occasion of the European Day of Jewish Culture, celebrated throughout Europe on SO, 03 September, we invite you to stroll through the museum with our TiM guides between 14.00 and 16.00 and be inspired to write a story together.

Drop by spontaneously and get involved in writing stories. We look forward to seeing you!

What is TiM – Tandem in the Museum?
TiM is based on a simple, joyful concept: two people go to the museum together, let themselves drift through the exhibition and finally find an object together that inspires them to write a short story. The encounter with each other on the one hand and the connection of the exhibition with one’s own life and experiences on the other are the focus here.
