L’hebreu és una llengua semítica que entorn el 200 dC es deixà d’utilitzar de forma habitual i passà a ser la llengua de la litúrgia jueva entre els rabins. A la fi del segle XIX es va recuperar i actualment la parlen més de cinc milions de persones. Té un alfabet i una grafia pròpia que podreu descobrir en aquest taller d’iniciació que imparteix la historiadora Ariadna Comas, responsable de la Sinagoga del Puig Mercadal. El taller té un preu de 5,00 € per persona i inclou el material.

La Sinagoga del Puig Mercadal fou un centre de culte i de reunió per a la comunitat jueva de Castelló d’Empúries. Situada a l’antic Call Jueu de la vila, avui ens permet entendre com vivien els jueus catalans a l’edat mitjana. La visita, a càrrec dels seus responsables, ens ajudarà a conèixer la història de l’edifici, el dia a dia de l’aljama i els trets més rellevants del judaisme. Tot acompanyat d’una degustació de vi i altres productes kosher.

The third annual iteration of the Shalom, Akmenė event in the European Days of Jewish Culture series was held at the Akmenė Palace of Culture over the weekend, educating locals on Jewish culture, life and heritage.
The Lithuanian Jewish Community’s Bagel Shop Café brought baskets of fresh bagels and Litvak snacks to the event. The Jewish fair there included Litvak dishes made by members of the Šiauliai Regional Jewish Community as well. Participants talked about Jewish cuisine and especially bagels, and shared the history and best recipes for this world-renowned food item.

Jewish students at the Stift – a search for clues
The names of Jewish students who attended the Stiftisches Gymnasium in Düren can be found again and again in the student lists of the 19th and 20th centuries. Little is known about their history. They took on a wide variety of professions, becoming cattle dealers, businessmen, doctors and lawyers, for example. A project group researched and documented the CVs of those high school graduates. The current state of research will be presented as part of an image-supported lecture.

Discover the Jewish heritage of Ettelbruck
Open day – Sunday 24th September 2023
The former synagogue of Ettelbruck opened its doors in 1870. It survived the Nazi occupation during the Second World War.
Since 2019, the non-profit organization Al Synagog Ettelbréck aims to create a meeting place for cultural and educational activities.
The open day is an opportunity for the public to find out more about this project and the state of the restoration work that is still in progress.
