World premiere of Pepi Fandango, a feature length documentary by Lucija Stojevic, at Warsaw Film Festival 39.
Short synopsis
Two old Viennese friends embark on a road trip to southern Spain. One is a Jewish Holocaust survivor haunted by the memory of Spanish Roma children singing flamenco in the camp, the other, his droll, guitar playing best mate, urges him to face the music.
The world premiere will be on October 7th, with the presence of the protagonist, Pepi, and director Lucija Stojevic, at 19:00 at the Atlantic Cinema D
The screening on October 8th will also have the presence of Pepi and Lucija and will be at 16:15, at the Atlantic Cinema C.
🇵🇱 Z okazji nowego roku żydowskiego 5784 JCC Krakow zaprasza zarówno społeczność żydowską, jak i przyjaciół oraz osoby zainteresowane do udziału w wyjątkowym muzycznym wydarzeniu — noworocznym koncercie kameralnym ukraińskiego duetu Nata & Evgeny. Po raz kolejny Nata i Evgeny przedstawią swój wyjątkowy projekt muzyczny, w którym łączą tradycyjne brzmienie szofaru z gitarą klasyczną i efektami elektronicznymi. Urodzeni we Lwowie muzycy wykorzystują brzmienia instrumentów perkusyjnych, łącząc je z wyjątkową barwą i techniką wokalną. Wydobywają więcej różnorodnego brzmienia z szofaru, niż ktokolwiek kiedykolwiek przed nimi. Dlatego ich oryginalne kompozycje przenoszą ten instrument jak gdyby ze świata liturgii do świata współczesnego elektronicznego środowiska.
Koncert odbędzie się w siedzibie JCC Krakow, ul. Miodowa 24, Kraków. Jeśli pogoda na to pozwoli występ zorganizujemy w Ogrodzie JCC, prosimy zatem zaopatrzyć się w odpowiednią odzież wierzchnią na wrześniowe wieczory.
Zapraszamy na oprowadzanie po wystawie stałej „Czego nie mogliśmy wykrzyczeć światu", które poprowadzi dr Justyna Majewska z Działu Naukowego ŻIH.
Głównym tematem wystawy jest działalność konspiracyjnej grupy działającej w getcie warszawskim pod nazwą Oneg Szabat – (hebr. Radość Soboty) oraz losy stworzonego przez nią unikatowego zbioru od jego powstania aż do dziś. Historia zapisana na kartach Archiwum ukazuje też losy jego autorów i to im po 70 latach oddajemy głos. Pomysłodawcą i głównym twórcą Archiwum był historyk dr Emanuel Ringelblum. Dzieło Oneg Szabat, będące świadectwem oporu intelektualnego i duchowego, powstawało zgodnie z naukowymi zasadami, z dbałością o obiektywność i staranność języka.
Na wystawie pokazujemy ukryte z narażeniem życia w jednej z piwnic getta – dokumenty, listy i testamenty idących na śmierć, relacje świadków i ofiar ludobójstwa.
In conjunction with the very successful temporary exhibition at the Irish Jewish Museum, “Estella Solomons and the Solomons Family”, Estella’s grandniece Susan Solomons will look at three of the six generations of the Solomons family in Dublin. Susan will discuss how her family impacted and were impacted by their environment of 19th, 20th and 21st century Dublin.
The focus of this talk will be on Rosa and Maurice’s communal leadership, Estella’s artistic talent and republican involvement, as well as Bethel and Michael’s role in promoting women’s health.
“The Room of the Ramchal"
The exhibition “The Room of the Ramchal" is the first in the series and will include a replica of a magnificent antique room dedicated to Ramchal, who, due to his esoteric ideas, was almost excommunicated.
“With permission from the authorities”/ “Con la licenza dei superiori”
Display of antique pages which were subjected to word and phrase deletions by the censors of the Serenissima. It will also recount the story of word and phrase cancellations.
The exhibition, “Con la licenza dei superiori” (with permission from the authorities) is realized in cooperation with ScalaMata Gallery and publishing house and the patronage with the kind support of the Jewish Museum of Venice and the Jewish Community of Venice.
Plzeň cosmopolitan – liberal klezmer band playing wise and debauched Jewish songs.
Mi Martef plays mainly klezmer songs that originated in Eastern Europe, but the band is also inspired by Sephardic melodies and songs from Yiddish musicals from the beginning of the last century. Mi Martef's repertoire attempts to capture the colorfulness of Jewish music from Birobidjan, to Belz and Jerusalem, to Toledo, Spain.

How does international and domestic politics influence Israeli football? We will see Israel's complex journey through the football associations of several continents or the contrast between two local football clubs, one of which is called "the most racist club in the world" and the other "the bridge between Jews and Arabs". We'll also learn which European soccer majors have the largest Jewish fan base and why. Then, in the "home window," we'll look at the history of Jewish football during the First Republic and how football was played in Terezin.
